Lunch Log: Week 50-54 (January 2014)
A shiny new year and after more than 4 years a shiny new bento bako (box)! I probably should write about it, but it’s testament that you get what you pay for as the old box has been gathering a few hairline cracks on its lid for some time.
Week 50
-
-
First lunch of the new year: coleslaw, spring rolls, broccoli & tomatoes
-
-
A miserable day outside though spring rolls and prawns cheer me up.
Week 51
-
-
-
How nostalgic, spagbog leftovers from last night; and I didn’t have to cook anything! Creamed kale for the guilt..
-
-
I have no complaints with leftovers again: roast potato, creamed kale, tomato, lamb ragu and a ‘soured’ cabbage dish to add something different
-
-
Stole some homemade chilli sauce for noodles. The sides are miso veg, lamb ragu in a roast potato half, prawns, quick pickle cucumber and broadbeans
-
-
First sushi of the year: kappa, crabstick and takuan. Also just plonked miso veg, spring rolls and cucumber as sides
Week 52
-
-
Pescatarian today, with Maki’s crabstick and cabbage salad, falafel and tomato salad with homemade chilli sauce
-
-
A new year, a new box, finally! This ‘cat box’ is far superior in quality and feels robust, so it’s a celebratory sushi lunch with tamagoyaki, coleslaw, falafel and tomato
-
-
I feel sick but managed to drag myself in halfway into the day.. Had to wolf down the spring roll, coleslaw, falafel, tamagoyaki, tomato. At least the broadbean and caper skewer was cute with it’s carrot flower
-
-
Finally an Aussie-style pie for lunch, though a full meal this tiny sample is not! Clearing the fridge of falafel and tomato on a cabbage/spring onion/carrot salad alongside tamagoyaki and broadbean skewers. The mystery container has miso dressing.
Week 53
-
-
Tumeric stains, but not on my new bento bako! However it’s a flavour needed in these 2 curries: aloo celeriac and a saag-style chicken and purple sprouting broccoli
-
-
Was about to join the microwave queue but got impatient. Served with raita and a little tomato salad
-
-
And now for something a little different: raita, curried chicken, mini meatballs, tomato and tamagoyaki on a cabbage salad
-
-
Probably the last of the curried potato, it would be missed. Served alongside tamagoyaki, scotch tomato, plain tomato and lamb meatballs
Week 54 (Week of Haggis)
This was split up into the individual days:
- Day 1 – The week starts with haggis
- Day 2 – The haggis that keeps on giving
- Day 3 – Lunch of Haggis
- Day 4 – End of the week, near end of the haggis
