Waving Goodbye to Summer with Onigiri
Time to cache the sunlight, pity it doesn’t warm rice balls effectively. Lunch is seafood green curry, pickled radish ‘chrysanthemums’, cucumber, runner beans with ginger & ponzu and tomato served with onigiri (kombu tsukudani, bacon and anchovy with spring onion & ginger)

Almost too disgustingly healthy, with things grilled, pickled or steamed. Lunch is beef croquette, steamed baby carrots, BBQ capsicum, BBQ eggplant, steamed peas, BBQ steak, pickled cucumber and tomato

Big batches of mince are handily transformed into various foodstuffs, in this case: croquettes. Lunch is beef croquettes, steamed sugar snap peas, steamed carrots dressed in ponzu & basil, pickled radish, pickled cucumber and tomato, with kombu no tsukudani for the rice

Looks like sorrel can discolour with acid in addition to heat. A simple lunch today: steamed French beans & cauliflower, spring rolls and sweet pickled beetroot

OK I can say that’s the last of the salad for now but I doubt I’d be sick of the spring rolls ever. Rice topped with smoked salmon is accompanied with garlic & anchovy eggplant, konnyaku & capsicum, steamed beans, cucumber & wakame salad and lambspring rolls

A light lunch today but worth it for fresh spring rolls. Lunch is lamb spring rolls, wakame & cucumber salad, BBQ corn, ginger simmered eggplant & capsicum, and fish filled onigiri (spicy salmon and anchovies)

Our pitiful crop of shiso tastes far too aniseedy to be the ‘normal’ type so perhaps it might be more useful. Lunch is soy egg, dashi seasoned runner beans, mixed kimpira, slow cooked pug cheek, tomato, cucumber, takuan and plain onigiri
