I really should be using my Just Bento cookbook rather than save it around like a collector’s item but with the internet so readily available my first port to call aren’t books. The entry about ebi furai did feed back to many manga/anime depictions of bento, and it was odd that I’ve not tried this myself despite having the ingredients about.
Though generally it’s a little bit of a pain when cooking from scratch, I admit I do feel more superior over bento that use frozen pre-prepared side dishes – it’s like it’s cheating.
