Lunch Log: Week 154

We interrupt the dread of the current programme with a certain day – so there is some excuse not to wallow in despair. Definitely time for recalling favourite things (food) and concentrate on getting delicious in the belly!

Yes, I used a veggie cutter on the potato for the curry – it is painfully cute that way.

I knew I should of done this earlier: rice paper spring roll wrapped stir fry, for veg on the go! Lunch is aloo gobi, veggie “fresh” spring rolls, tomato, carottes râpées, spicy karaage and onigiri (hijiki with sesame and yukari, and umeboshi)

Looks like the first pasta lunch for 2016, and I get to use the cutest tomatoes I’ve ever seen. Lunch is eggplant in a tomato and garlic sauce, prawns, steamed purple sprouting broccoli, roasted cherry tomatoes, linguine and an olive. Bowled up and garnished with the tamest basil I’ve ever tasted.

Oh it’s someone’s birthday today, I would assume the spare karaage is not enough. I wonder what u can cook for dinner? Lunch is tomatoes, steamed purple sprouting broccoli, karaage, rocket, eggplant in a garlic and tomato sauce and aloo gobi

January 21

Today is quite a bit brown. Lunch is spinach with goat’s cheese, tomatoes, steamed broccoli, “ponzu” eggplant, chicken karaage and aloo gobi. It’s back to winter weather, good thing the curry is spicy

I don’t know why the record for this is missing but it’s another sample of my growing recipe box that I have plucked from a manga – this time it’s Jittan’s Jitan Recipe. It’s not been fan-translated but thankfully the format is visual and there is one particularly clever idea which upon research is actually common in modern Japanese home cooking. Lunch is miso-mayo baked salmon on shredded veg, tomatoes, steamed purple sprouting broccoli, stir-fried bean sprouts and aloo gobi.
