I’ve had a poke at old entries, and recalled some fairly nice looking entries that were vegetarian or vegan – which always make me think of a (Buddhist) monk’s diet. I probably would need to research things further to expand the way of the veggie, so this week was focusing to try to prove (to myself) that it is possible.
Though, there was a cheap trick used (chicken) at least it was only the 2 ramen stocks for the entire week. Whew – it’s hard work for a glutton that has the taste for meat!

Drumroll please: today’s feature presentation is vegan friendly gasp But don’t worry, there’s something deep fried so the thighs don’t feel neglected… Lunch is soy and ginger eggplant, dill pickled runner beans, okra, tomatoes, ganmadoki, garlic sautéed cabbage and mini onigiri (umeboshi with tororo kombu and kombu no tsukudani with nori).
Confirming Maki (of JustBento fame) is completely correct that the texture of ganmadoki requires a hot oil bath: (these have carrot, hijiki, cloud ear fungus and a touch of miso; no egg)

Vegan again today, and on top of that a serious case of “WTF, Microsoft”; a recipe for hot boiling anger, but I’m too exhausted – and it’s only Tuesday! Lunch is teriyaki konnyaku with leek, tomato, okra, ganmadoki with mustard on rocket and garlic cabbage.
I’m going to have to add animal protein tomorrow before I break myself or someone else

“Instant ramen”? First and foremost I think I fail the “instant” part… Toppings: grilled eggplant with doabanjiang, lightly fried leek slices, bacon, steamed cabbage and fried garlic slices. Soup: homemade chicken stock with soy. Base: spicy ramen (precooked noodles, flavour sachets). Additional: soft boiled egg, nori
Garnished with nori, it barely fitted in a normal bowl **Ramensplode**

Vegetation overruns the box today, and an experiment which looks kind of awful. Lunch is vegetarian tortang talong “tamagoyaki” (eggplant omelette), roasted beetroot with rosemary, tomato, okra, ganmadoki with mustard on rocket and cabbage seasoned with Pad Thai flavours.
I feel the urge of fried chicken once more, no amount of smoked paprika to stand in for bacon would ever compare..

Annnnd we’re back here again. I got home late, and this was done this morning; don’t judge me! (Actually I don’t care)
Another chilli ramen pack with okra, spring onion, ganmadoki, fried eggplant, simmered cabbage, a very soft boiled egg and home made chilli threads. It’s a good thing we’ve got heaps of chicken stock. It was yet again bigger than I expected (like my weight, which is why I haven’t checked it in months)
