As late autumn makes way to less interesting produce, it’s been far too easy to go for chicken so it’s a lifesaver to have a stash of frozen seafood. It would be good to practise more cooking that has less oil involved, but oh – what timing for beer events to put a halt on plans!
September 28
Mmm, lamb; I should of added a sauce but it’s flavourful on its own. Lunch is grilled lamb steak, tomato, garlic broccoli & runner beans, roasted sweet potato and 2 types of onigiri (kombu no tsukudani and bacon). Simple leftovers make the fastest lunches
September 29
Too distracted today; I did have rice with furikake with this lot: pan fried eggplant, tomatoes, garlic broccoli and herbed chicken. Not looking forward to more chaos later this week, this boring lunch probably proves it
October 1
Time skip! And a surprise: this lunch did not involve deep frying. Lunch is tomato, garlic veg, roasted pumpkin with soy & honey, baked chicken katsu with tomato sauce and onigiri (kombu no tsukudani with cheese and corn)
Next time though I’ll marinate the chicken for flavour before crumbing it, hence the “dead horse” here
October 2
With stuff this tasty you automatically feel bad in the knowledge that it’s probably unhealthy.. Gah! Lunch is chicken karaage with lime slices, tomato, red curry veggies, ponzu eggplant and “mixed” rice (carrot, spring onion and corn)
So much for avoiding deep frying this week
October 5
Yeah, technically this entry was in the next week, but I applied to be distracted for a week starting Tuesday..
After this entry, I may be a while returning: yet again, beery shenanigans. Oh homemade food, I’ll miss you! Lunch is (fugly!) kimchee, spicy Korean-style squid, runner beans kimpira and tomato with nori on the side.
