Despite being all excited about the groceries delivery last week I didn’t go all out as this week had quite a supply of cauliflower and lamb. Though the plan was to roast the cauliflower, I can’t complain about the copious amounts of cheese that ended up with it.
In other news the natto ordered from last week has a 3 day shelf life – it’s probably shipped frozen until it is allowed to defrost in transit to the final delivery. I feel a bit mean that there may be a more ‘local’ source but I’m not about to polish off my (poor) high-school level French.. (To note: I’ve found the best way to eat natto is for breakfast with a raw egg. It’s probably an egg-and-beans on toast thing)
June 1
Supplied up but defaulted to pasta – amusing. Penne with olive oil and oregano to be mixed with BBQ asparagus, grilled yellow capsicum, chorizo, grilled tomatoes, BBQ red capsicum and rocket, and garnished with capers and goat’s cheese. Pasta = fast food (but tasty)
June 2
Lots of browns today but they are tasty browns; a change in plans for the cauliflower made a better pairing with the protein but maybe not as healthy.. Lunch is BBQ lamb chop slices, raddish, tomato, cauliflower cheese with rosemary, cauliflower stem & carrot kimpira, mushroom & quinoa & carrot rice and an umeboshi
June 3
Lots of repeats but some new items to add interest. Lunch is wakame & cucumber salad with rocket, radish, sliced lamb chop, cauliflower cheese, tomato, basic sweet & sour style stir fry, mushroom rice and an umeboshi
June 4
The last of the lamb today, and a return to an old favourite. Lunch is cauliflower cheese, grilled lamb, wakame & cucumber salad, stir fried veg with oyster sauce, pickled radish, tomato and makizushi (crabstick, mayo, sesame seed, cucumber and kimchee)
June 5
If my feta is veggie, then today it seems I’ve gone vegetarian. That would be good if I don’t admit it was cake day.. Lunch is feta & spring onion croquettes, tomato, wakame & cucumber salad, pickled radish, cauliflower cheese, carottes râpées* en salade (French-style carrot salad) and an umeboshi.
* Well, I didn’t grate the carrot as it was too small; but should make this more often – I’ve forgotten how tasty it is..
