Brr, it’s been an unusual week – spring is definitely starting to show but the temperatures started off cooler than expected. The fruit & veg shop is eager for a flush of fresh local produce (“gah, some rhubarb please!”) but it seemed like if there were any groundhogs here it would of turned back around – and as foretold there have not been any developments on the menu-front. I mainly stuck with chicken, (frozen) beans, carrot, cabbage, (imported) tomato, carrot and (imported) eggplant.
The days are noticeably getting longer and the snowdrops have given way to early spring flowers; hopefully with warmer weather will there be more exciting – and local – things to eat next week.

Oh delicious fried chicken, you are so good but so bad for me. Lunch is “Asian” style coleslaw, turnip cake, steamed beans, tomato, karaage with prawn & mayo a ‘sushi-style’ onigiri. I like the crossover but onigirazu is definitely more speedy

Dost my eye deceive me? Something is making my lunch look good… Oh, it’s the sun.. Lunch is dropping the amount of fried food today with steamed beans, miso topped simmered daikon, tomato, cabbage & carrot salad, chicken karaage and turnip cake topped with aonori. The salad looks like namasu..

This is all very bibimbap like, but the chilli flavour isn’t right for one. Still wolfed down the stir fry onion, sift boiled egg, steamed beans, garlic carrot and peri peri karaage chicken. Rice is my downfall..

Newly cooked rice and a fresh pack of crab sticks equals sushi! A luxurious lunch of salad-dressing seasoned cauliflower, turnip cake with aonori, grilled lamb steak, steamed beans, adobo-style eggplant and makizushi (crabstick, carrot in 2 colours, jalapeño, crushed spicy pork rinds , mayo, sesame seeds) The maki was flavourful enough without soy sauce
March 6
A bit ordinary today, mostly what has come before. At least there are around 6 items for lunch: lamb steak, Asian-style coleslaw, ponzu eggplant, steamed beans, spicy miso dressed mini potatoes and a tomato
