Lunch Log: Week 87-89 (Late-September 2014)
What a month! ‘Nuff said, really.
I could count myself grateful that in the end, things did turn out OK but I can’t deny that the whole experience hasn’t been an emotional roller coaster and all those cliches. As consolidation I can say it wasn’t so bad from the comfort of the other end of the situation (and hey, I wasn’t too wrecked to stop the bento habit, yay?).
Week 87
-
-
Steaming hot bacon filled onigiri to warm the heart from the depressing weather. Lunch is BBQ roast corn, kimchee radish, steamed carrot, tomato, BBQ lamb steak & onion.
-
-
A little worrying waking up very tired, but definitely perked up after getting this in.. Noodle toppings are shredded crabstick, spring onion, spicy kale, soy simmered shiitake, ramen egg and sesame seeds
-
-
It’s spicy soy ramen today with a chicken stock base. Reheated, bowled and inhaled within half an hour. If the egg was dribbly it would of been perfect.
-
-
Inspired by Beyond Kimchee’s chungmu kimbap it’s chilli squid and plain rice in nori plus other bits. Lunch is garlic runner beans, konnyaku shigure-ni, blanched kale, tomato, Korean-style spicy squid stirfry, kimchee radish. The konnyaku looks a lot more like meat because when I thawed it from the too cold fridge the water had frozen out.
-
-
New surroundings today, and access to a microwave. Despite being close to home packing lunch does speed things up. Lunch is miso seasoned veg, soft boiled egg, mini hamburgers and tomato.
-
-
Sushi day makes me happy! Stuffed squid sushi with inarizushi and tomato, green onion tamagoyaki, runner beans goma-ae and bacon rolls
Week 88
-
-
A lazy weekend but not too unproductive; a large spag bog had at least 1 hour to stew which turned out brilliantly. Lunch is herby carrot, beef bolognese, ‘rough’ pesto, tomato and chunky spaghetti
-
-
After such a large bowl of pasta – time for a nap!
-
-
Pleased that lunch is mainly vegetables.. And sushi.. Spinach namul, spiced bolognese, soy eggplant, tomato, cucumber and carrot kimpira with crabstick makizushi
-
-
Big lunch today; well it did seem like it. Beef & eggplant, carrot kimpira, pickled gherkins, soft boiled egg, garlic runner beans, tomato and onigiri (which I’ve promptly forgot what the fillings were)
-
-
It’s bibimbap today, so it’s a happy day! Toppings are carrot kimpira, ginger soy eggplant, garlic runner beans, soft boiled egg, spinach namul, Korean chilli beef and stir fried onion. Too bad I can’t ask for seconds..
-
-
Talk of sushi yesterday gave me that craving.. Lunch is runner bean namul, tomatoes, carrot & onion stir fry, eggplant adobo and hosomaki (crabstick; smoked mackerel, ginger & spring onion; kappa)
Week 89
-
-
Trying to get more veggies in but I think I’m failing on the carb department. Lunch is spinach namul, carrot kimpira, BBQ eggplant, BBQ lamb, gamjajorim (Korean style potatoes), baby broad beans and corn rice.
-
-
Newly cooked rice means it’s onigiri today. Lunch is corn,
gamjajorim (Korean style potatoes), BBQ eggplant, garlic carrots, tomato, balsamic vinegar dressed runner beans and 3 types of onigiri (buttered corn, piri piri squid and salami
