Lunch Log: Week 59-62 (March 2014)
A recent discovery that we have access to an authentic tasting (if you consider restaurants in Sydney) green chilli paste means that there would be more lunches involving it – if we can resist wolfing it all down for dinner that is! The ramen eggs were absolutely perfect, though I may be alone in liking eggs with liquid centers in the house.
Week 59
-
-
Curry is a great way to use lots of veg.. Beni shoga, tamagoyaki, steamed beans/snap peas and seafood green curry.
-
-
Not so fabulous Mardi Gras okonomiyaki but made awesome with chipotle mayo. With bean goma-ae, broad beans, beni shoga and fried chicken
-
-
Pre-filleting and dividing mackerel made lunch making faster. Miso ginger glazed mackerel, beni shoga, kale goma-ae, steamed beans, chicken and tamagoyaki
-
-
Pasta Friday: another big portion today. Chicken, tomato, pancetta, kale with garlic & roast tomato pasta
-
-
Bowled and heated: like having pasta at home
Week 60
-
-
Happy that it’s sushi day Monday to kick off the week. An attempt to balance with a tomato, soft-boiled egg, grilled chicken, snap peas and Korean chilli cabbage
-
-
Somewhat not as healthy as I would of liked. Steamed beans, hatcho miso and sesame kale, grilled mackerel, tomato and mini okonomiyaki
-
-
Yesterday’s stir fry tastes better as a vegetarian version. Black bean stir fry veggies, turnip cake, tomato, crab spring rolls and cucumber
-
-
Apparently it’s pi day, but mainly healthy things today. Tomato, turnip cake, crab spring rolls, carrot & hijiki salad, stir fried capsicum and cucumber
Week 61
-
-
Just realised I’ve not put enough green items for today. Korean-style seasoned chicken, mini okonomiyaki, spinach goma-ae and carrot & hijiki stir fry
-
-
Delayed lunch, but who can deny free pizza? Okonomiyaki, spiced chicken, garlic spinach, benishoga, prawns and jalapeño with seasoned nori
-
-
A meaty lunch today: prawns, kale namul, quick-fry capsicum and lamb strips
Week 62
-
-
Quite different from yesterday’s ‘chicken soup’. Beer-braised pork loin and capsicum, chickpea and kale bhaji, spring roll and steamed baby carrot.
-
-
Tempted by noodles so I did something about it: grilled chicken thigh, shredded cabbage and would garlic, spring onion, prawns and ramen egg
-
-
An unconventional chicken ramen lunch: chicken miso broth topped with benishoga, baby carrot and Korean seasoned nori
-
-
These ramen eggs are pretty tasty.. Lunch is Korean style mince, baby carrots, quick pickle cucumber, ramen egg, tomato, stir fry cabbage and grilled chicken
-
-
First lunch at ‘summer’ time: a case of BBQ leftovers. Pasta with lamb kofta ‘meat balls’, steamed cabbage and kale, capers & wild garlic and pan fried tomatoes
-
-
Bowled up and heated. Pasta salad it ain’t
