Lunch Log: Week 55-58 (February 2014)
After a week of haggis, it was quite a relief to have food that didn’t contain any for a change. Instead, after a visit to a local Chinese restaurant my interests briefly went towards turnip cake..
Week 55

A break from haggis: broad beans, cheesy kale, roasted capsicum, carrot & hijiki, a normal meat spring roll and ginger eggplant.

Refreshingly different: pasta today, with grilled steak, prawn, coleslaw and fried eggplant

Freshly cooked rice easily calls for sushi. California makizushi with quick-pickle cucumber, eggplant, miso veg, spring roll, and prawn & veg stir fry

Another dreary day: hopefully some decent food will pick up my mood.. Quick pickled cucumber, coleslaw, simmered eggplant and lamb ragù
Week 56

Fish ball! Ball fish! Found a pack of fish balls on Mill Rd which seemed to readily expand in green curry with veg. Leftover quinoa, tomato, takuan and haggis half-discs to fill out lunch.

Filled onigiri day: brinjal bhaji, anchovy and bacon. Served with miso veg, spring roll, tomato and bok choi salad

Because everyone loves bacon! Ok perhaps I’m one of that sample set.. Green curry fish balls, garlic bok choi, tomato, seaweed salad and miso ginger veg to go with bacon rice

A Valentines lunch to myself: meat! Strips of sirloin steak with jalapeño, miso veg and seaweed salad
Week 57

Believe it or not, there is egg in this lunch: black kale namul, namasu, beetroot salad (hint), tomato, teriyaki chicken

I’m going to ignore how unhealthy it looks: it was good! Karaage chicken, tomato, kale goma-ae, jalapeño and beetroot salad

Today is looking a bit samey. Beetroot salad, kale goma-ae, tomato, pickled turnip and karaage chicken. Trying to cut down on the fried items!

A black dominant lunch: garlic kale, seaweed salad, steak strips, tomato and turnip cake
Week 58

Pasta lunch today: too evil! Bacon, kale and tomato linguine

The serve was larger than I thought.. Time for a nap! (I wish)

Sushi day for a boost at the start of the week. Makizushi with steamed beans and kale, pickled turnip, roast lamb, turnip cake and a tomato

Sushi again: because I had to try a certain ingredient. Smoked chicken makizushi with sesame dressed kale, turnip cake, tomato, pickled turnip and slow cooked lamb

Hmm, not as substantial today; needs more protein.. Tomato, spring roll, pickled turnip, tamagoyaki and kale with steamed beans an broccoli
