We’re still gathering plenty of runner beans this year; it is far more cheerful to look at than the sad tall fence – while the original one directly next to it promised a time long lost of open backyards and shared sunlight. As a fast grower, the beans have reached for the sky and has one of the better positions only a climbing plant can achieve. As kimpira is mainly a cooking technique I decided to see how the beans would turn out.
Top tier: makizushi (crabstick, mayonnaise, chilli sauce, cucumber, sesame seeds, capers), tomato tamagoyaki with steamed cabbage leaf divider.
Bottom tier: bean kimpira, lumpia on sorrel, mini tomato.
