Not quite ‘green eggs and ham’ – I prefer more variety for lunch. This is twinned with my ‘eggplant and lumpia’ lunch.
I had an orange capsicum I intended to make into a peri peri sauce base, so I whole-roasted it and peeled the skin. As I struggled to think up a more interesting item than ‘random fillings makizushi’, my thoughts looked upon the crabsticks. It occurred to me that they were almost perfect squares, a shape ideal for four seas rolls, if only they were a little thicker. I can’t say I’m disappointed with my experiment – they look rather impressive for what they are.
Lunch contents: four seas sushi (crabstick, capsicum, sesame), leaf beet gomae, ginger eggplant, boiled egg halves with pepper & shichimi togarashi, leaf beet wrapped with bacon, salad greens with picked radish ‘chrysanthemum’ .
From the action shot it seems that the eggplant leached liquid in transit; good thing I protect the notes these days..
